Participants acquire and exchange knowledge about the formation of the Alps and the nappe theory in small groups at various stations in the museum. The building blocks of the Alps are investigated using rock hand samples.

Participants get to know the rock cycle and learn to distinguish the three classes of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. They also learn where to place the formation of the Alps in the context of geological history and understand the fundamental processes involved (plate tectonics, collision, nappe formation, erosion, isostasy).
