Photo competition KEEP IT CO₂OL

As part of the planned special exhibition 'KEEP IT CO₂OL', focusTerra launched a photo competition in which you could show what you want to protect from climate change and how you do it.

Great images may inspire, educate, and drive measures for the protection of our planet. Join us in raising awareness about the urgent need to reduce CO₂ emissions. Your photos can show, for example, the beauty of nature, life and goods worth protecting, visible effects of climate change in Switzerland or possible climate protection measures.

So what are you waiting for? Help us document the changes happening in Switzerland and show us how you are taking action!

Anyone living in Switzerland can take part! If you are under 18, you just need the consent of a parent or guardian.

Submit a photo and a short, personal story to one of the below categories by 15 November 2024:

Category 1: What do you want to protect?

Photo: Show us what you want to safeguard from climate change – whether it's a cherished local spot, a cultural tradition, or a beloved natural element. This could be your neighbourhood playground, snowy mountain days, a unique natural site, a captivating animal, or a beautiful plant. You can also capture the visible impacts of climate change that resonate with you. The photo should show a motif from Switzerland or a reference to Switzerland is created through the story.

Personal Story: Tell us in a few words: What do you want to protect? How is it threatened by climate change? Why does it matter to you?

Inspiration for category 1

Category 2: How do you protect the climate?

Photo: Capture your efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and protect the climate. Share images of delicious vegan meals, homegrown veggies, collaborative climate initiatives, political advocacy, or eco-friendly travel. The photo should show a motif from Switzerland or a reference to Switzerland is created through the story.

Personal Story: Tell us in a few words: How do you protect the climate? How does it help the climate? Why do you want to protect the climate?

Inspiration for category 2

The top 12 submissions will win one of the following 'CO₂OL' prize packages! Additionally, all entries that meet the requirements and adhere to the terms and conditions will be featured on this website and potentially be showcased in the special exhibition 'KEEP IT CO₂OL'. Winners will be notified via email by 30 November 2024.

An internal focusTerra jury will evaluate all submissions, selecting the top twelve winning photos based on the following criteria:

Relevance: Does the photo and accompanying story align with and address the given topic effectively?
Storytelling: Do the photo and narrative seamlessly complement each other, conveying a clear and impactful message?
Individuality, creativity, and dedication: Does the submission stand out due to exceptional qualities such as humour, innovation, provocation, or excitement?
Artistic value: Does the photo have artistic and aesthetic value (composition, play of light and colour, etc.)?
Quality: Is the photo of a sufficiently high quality and resolution to meet the standards for online publication, exhibition display, or poster campaign usage?
